Ek het verlede week met ‘n tannie gesels wat bietjie in Struisbaai was vir ‘n week…  Sy’t my vertel hoe sy vroegoggend gaan stap het langs die strand, en hoe sy, voordat sy by die strand aankom, so op ‘n duin gestaan het en die stuk strand sonder enige voetspore, en net die bruisende branders voor haar aanskou het…  Sy het gesê hoe dit net vir haar laat voel het dat sy saam met God kon stap, daar vroegoggend terwyl sy God se natuurskoon kon beleef en aanskou…

Dit het my sommer weer laat dink aan die immergewilde “Footprints in the sand”…  “One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.  Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.  Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there were one set of footprints. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints. So I said to the Lord, "You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there have only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?" The Lord replied, "The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, is when I carried you." ~ Mary Stevenson

Dis vir my altyd lekker om weer hieraan herinner te word…  As jy vandag na jou lewe kyk – wat sien jy op die oomblik?  Sien jy ‘n stuk strand waarop die voetspore sommer deurmekaar getrap is?  Sien jy ‘n gladde stuk strand of sien jy ‘n strand waar jy ‘n ry voetspore sien wat doelgerig op ‘n doelwit afstap?  Maak nie saak waar jy jouself vandag bevind nie – jy kan gerus wees dat God REG langs jou stap…  Wanneer dit voel of jou lewensbootjie verwoes word deur die wind van voor, volg Elizabeth Edwards se raad, en verander jou seile – sodat jy met die wind van agter kan vaar…  Partykeer verg dit net dat ons ‘n “kopskuif” moet maak sodat ons dinge in ‘n “anderste” perspektief sien…  Daardie passie wat jy in jou hart voel, die drome en doelwitte wat jy het – sit dit in God se hande…  Hy sal SORG dat dinge moet uitwerk sodat jy die grootste moontlike seen uit die situasie kan ontvang… God het jou LIEF – WEET dit vandag!
