Exodus 14:13-29

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.” Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.   Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.”

Expectancy is the atmosphere for miracles… ~ Edwin Louis Cole

Hierdie woorde hierbo wat ek in bold gemaak het - “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today…  The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still…”  is vandag nog van toepassing op jou en my…  God het die woorde vir die Israeliete gegee, maar Hy veg nog elke dag vir jou en my ook!  Hy sorg daagliks vir deurbrake (al moet jy somtyds ’n rukkie daarvoor wag!) Dink gou aan ’n swembad…  Al manier hoe jy die swembad gaan droog kry, sal wees om die water uit te tap… Niks wat jy doen (behalwe om die water uit te tap), sal maak dat jy op droë grond kan staan, wanneer jy in is nie!  Watter ongelooflike gesig moes dit nie wees, om te sien hoe die water teruggetrek het, en die Israeliete op droë grond deurgeloop het nie…  En hoe God toe die water laat terugstoot het, net toe die Israeliete deur was – om sodoende die “vyand van die Israeliete (Egiptenaars)” te oorwin…  

Wat is die “moral of the story” wat ons hieruit kan neem?  As God vir jou is – maak dit nie saak wie teen jou is nie!!  God sal sorg dat jy oorwinning behaal!  En soos nou die dag in 2 Kronieke se wonderwerk, sal Hy self vir jou veg…  Jy hoef net stil te raak…  Al lyk dinge vir ons gewone mense na ’n ongelooflike groot berg – iets wat ons nooit sal kan oorkom nie – ons God, is die God wat water in 2 kon laat deel – 2 watermure aan weerskante van droë grond – en bang, onsekere Israeliete, wat die Egiptenare met alles wat in hul was gevrees het – aan die ander kant kon laat uitkom het…  Hy het met Sy eie hand, die Egiptenare oorwin…  Dink jy nie dit kan vir jou lewe ook ’n moontlikheid word nie?  Al sê mense X, God KAN Y doen!!  Ons weet dat God nog ALTYD getrou was in ons lewens!!  Al gaan ons deur moeilike tye – dis ongelukkig deel van die lewe, en karakterbou…  Partykeer voel mens om nie lus om AANMEKAAR SOO BAIE KARAKTER TE BOU NIE J  Maar God sien die groter bouplanne van jou lewe…  Hy het self die “blueprint” ontwerp, en Hy weet tot wat jy in staat is – wat jy kan hanteer, en wat jy nodig het, om jou die mens te maak wat Hy wil hê jy moet wees…  Vertrou Hom net – al voel jy om eerder in ’n hoekie te sit en weg te kruip…  Hy is in beheer, groter as die grootste, diepste, donker seer wat jy tans deurmaak…
