Doen elke dag een iets wat jou bang maak (of buite jou comfort zone is), en doen elke dag een iets vir iemand anders…  Dis twee van my “doelwitte” vir die nuwe jaar…  Ek’t al so baie agtergekom, mens kan soveel planne / drome / doelwitte hê, maar as jy nie pasop nie, verval jy baie vinnig weer in jou ou weë en raak jou lewe net ‘n gejaag van werksverpligtinge / skoolwerk na sosiale verpligtinge…  Van vroeg in die oggend is jy dan besig tot laat in die aand, kom so moeg by die huis dat jy net in die bed val om die volgende dag weer van voor af te begin…  Ekt iewers gelees dat as jy 20dae lank iets oefen / implimenteer in jou lewe raak dit ‘n gewoonte…  So ek wil probeer om ‘n gewoonte te kweek om daagliks net 1 iets vir iemand anders te beteken…  En deur iets te doen wat buite jou comfort zone is, maak jy seker dat jy VOLUIT lewe!!! 

Moenie dat die dinge wat onbekend is, jou ‘n toeskouer maak op die pawiljoen van jou lewe nie!  Maak seker dat jy die geleentheid gryp, en sorg dat jy in die proses nuwe dinge leer, en jouself blootstel aan God se seën!!  Montel se aanhaling is vir my awesome!!  Sorg dat jy lewe met geen verskonings, en sorg dat jy liefhet met GEEN spyt nie…  Sorg dat die mense in jou lewe WEET wat hulle vir jou beteken!!  Daar is mos mense wat al ‘n verskoning reghet wanneer jy hulle wil nooi na iets toe…  Moenie so ‘n mens word nie – want dan sluit jy jouself af van die lewe!  Kyk hoeveel dinge jy hierdie jaar kan aanpak, hoeveel kuiers jy kan bywoon, hoeveel verhoudinge jy kan bou, want DIT is wat die lewe die moeite werd maak!!  Nie al die ure wat jy op kantoor spandeer, of wat jy spandeer aan dinge wat nie ewigheidswaarde het nie!!  Maak tyd vir God, want dit is een van die grootste “investments” in jou ewigheid wat jy ooit sal kan maak!  Jou dae sal ryker wees wanneer God een van jou prioriteite word, in plaas van een van jou opsies...  Hy het jou oneindig baie lief!!

Soos ons gister gesien het moet JOY, of gelukkigheid die basis vir ons lewens vorm…  Dis ‘n KEUSE om gelukkig te wees…  As ons heeltyd in ons omstandighede sou vaskyk, al die uitdagings wat daagliks oor ons paaie kom, die nuus lees en net fokus op alles wat verkeerd is in die wêreld, dink ek nie een van ons sou baie gelukkig gewees het nie…  Maar wanneer ons kies om op te kyk na God, eerder as om af te kyk – vas in die probleme, sal wees wanneer ons die oplossings sal raaksien…  Uitkoms of nuwe geleenthede kan baie keer in die vorm van ‘n probleem by jou kom aanklop…  Dis wanneer ons kies om met ‘n oop gemoed, nuwe hoop, en gevul met die krag van God die dag van môre tegemoet te loop, met ‘n glimlag op ons gesig, dat dinge hanteerbaar word…

Elke dag is ‘n nuwe geleentheid om dinge anders en beter as die vorige dag aan te pak!  God voorsien ons elke nag met rus, om sodoende die nuwe dag met nuwe dinge en geleenthede met ‘n vars gemoed aan te pak!  Ek weet nie of jy al vir jou ‘n “doel en drome lysie vir 2013 opgestel het nie?”  Dis iets wat ek jaarliks glo en aanmoedig…  Nie ‘n “resolutions” lys nie, maar meer iets wat jou weer aan die droom sal sit om te glo dat God werklik GROOT dinge in hierdie nuwe jaar vir jou kan laat gebeur…  Wanneer mens vir jou riglyne neerskryf, is mens ook meer geneig om dit na te jaag!  Dat jy daadwerklike planne in plek sal sit om jou drome waar te maak, dat dit nie net drome bly nie, maar realiteit word!!  God sal jou help om jou drome ‘n werklikheid te maak wanneer dit in Sy wil vir jou lewe is…  En ons kan versekering kry dat dit in Sy wil vir ons lewe is, wanneer ons bid daarvoor, en Hy ons sal vul met allesoorweldigende rustigheid en ook die dinge net in plek sal laat val!  Ek’t al verstom gestaan oor hoe goed dinge laat gebeur!  Jy kan nog dink jy is oppad in een rigting, en dan kom God en boul jou om met wat Hy eintlik vir jou het…  Al wat Hy van jou vra is dat jy sal kom met ‘n daaglikse verwagting!  En dat jy Homs al vertrou met alles wat in jou is!  Hy wil jou bless met GOEIE dinge…  Maak jou hart oop vir Jesus en dit wat vir jou voorlê…  Laat God toe om 2013 die leiding gewende in jou lewe te wees!  Dinge gaan al jou verwagtinge oortref!!  Ek glo dit!!

Is jy gelukkig?  Iets wat ek in 2012 besef het is dat maak nie saak WAT gebeur nie, solank jy gelukkig is, is dit al wat saakmaak…  Ons het baie keer soveel “reëls” van hoe die lewe moet wees…  As dit gebeur, of as ek hierdie uitdaging kan baasraak, of as ek baie geld kan verdien, DAN sal ek gelukkig wees…  Ek moet hierdie, en daardie persoon “please”, ek moet sorg dat almal rondom my gelukkig is, want dit is hoekom ek hier op aarde is…  Maar in die proses van almal te probeer gelukkig hou, en die groot tick lys, van dit wat jou gelukkig sal maak, deur te werk, staan jy en God op die ou end agter in die ry?!  Vir Jesus, is jy ELKE dag nommer 1!!  Jy is oneindig kosbaar, en Hy stel belang in elke liewe aspek van jou lewe…

Ons dominee het nou die dag ook ‘n baie groot waarheid aangeraak…  Hy het gesê:  “The way to approach God is not by “please, please, please”, but by saying, “thank you, thank you, thank you…”  Deur dankbaar te wees vir wat jy alreeds het, maar ook vir dit wat jy WEET God sal doen deur Sy groot krag wat in jou lewe werk…  Deur GELOOF in die dag van môre te hê, omdat jy weet dat jou God GROTER is as ENIGE iets wat môre oor jou pad mag kom…  Verder kan ons ook weet – daar kan nie ‘n uitdaging wees wat groter is as God nie…  En omdat daar nie ‘n uitdaging is wat groter is as God nie, kan daar nie ‘n uitdaging wees wat groter is as jy nie, omdat God in jou leef! (Richard van der Kolk)  Dis ‘n absolute ongelooflike iets om te begryp!   Jy kan leef met die vrede in jou hart dat Jesus groter is as ENIGE iets wat jy die volgende jaar sal moet deurmaak…  Doen in 2013 goed wat jou gelukkig maak…  Nie goed wat vir ander gelukkig sal maak wanneer jy dit doen nie, maar goed wat vir JOU gelukkig sal maak…  Spandeer tyd saam met jou geliefdes – ons weet nie hoeveel tyd nog vir ons geleen gaan word nie…  En maak seker dat jy ELKE oomblik sal laat tel!!

Hierdie aanhaling van Neil Gaiman is my HOOP vir jou vir hierdie nuwe jaar…  In hierdie wêreld is daar soveel dinge wat ons bang maak…  Dinge wat ons laat twyfel in ons vermoëns en ons menswees…  Wat is dit wat jou vul met vrees?  Is dit mense, met hulle uitsprake oor jou lewe?  Die onbekende?  ‘n Nuwe jaar kan baie oorweldigend wees, wanneer mens dit tegemoet moet gaan, maar nie ‘n idee het wat vir jou voorlê nie!  Miskien is daar veranderinge wat moet gebeur in jou lewe hierdie jaar – of dit nou jou werk is, jou verhouding wat dalk ‘n doodloop punt bereik het, vriendskappe wat net nie meer werk nie, of miskien moet jy verhuis en jouself in ‘n totale nuwe omgewing verplaas?!  Dis alles dinge wat mens kan vul met onsekerheid en groot vrees…

Ons kan egter rus in die wete – ons hoef nie te vrees nie, want Jesus is in beheer oor die dag van môre!  Hy weet reeds wat op jou wag, en Hy weet ook dat jy dit in jou het om ENIGE uitdaging te kan oorkom, deur Hom wat jou ondersteun en dra daardeur…  Ons dominee het verlede week so ‘n ongelooflike storie vir ons vertel wat my net weer met nuwe perspektief gevul het oor dinge wat jou bang maak…  Hy het gesê:  Stel jou voor jy leer jou kind fietsry…  Jy op jou fiets, en jou kind op syne…  Net voordat julle die pad aanpak na die winkel, vra jou kind aan jou of hy nie maar eerder agter op jou fiets kan klim nie, want hy is te bang vir die pad wat voorlê…  As jy jou kind werklik wil “equip” vir dit wat voorlê, sal jy vir hom sê – nee,  pappa / mamma sal heel pad langs jou wees…  Jy KAN dit doen!!  Jy sal jou kind aanmoedig en verseker dat hy /sy tot meer in staat is!  Jesus staan so langs jou – HEEL jaar lank, elke minuut van elke dag…  JY is in staat tot ENIGE IETS, deur Hom wat jou die krag gee (Fillipense 4:13)…  Sy woord is daar om jou die pad te wys, of as versekering te dien dat VREES nie deel van jou woordeskat hierdie jaar te wees nie…  Sorg dat jy VOLUIT leef!  As jy foute maak, maak hulle voluit, maar LEER daaruit…  As jy nooit foute maak nie, is dit 'n teken dat jy op die kantlyn van jou eie lewe sit, en eintlik net bestaan...  Moenie so bang wees vir dit wat onseker is, dat jy op die ou end uitmis op ALLES wat God vir jou het nie…  Beweeg uit daai comfort zone! Want dis SOVEEL meer as wat jy ooit sal kan hoop of dink!

Ons is aan die begin van 2013…  ‘n Nuwe jaar, vol geleenthede, ‘n nuwe leë boek vol bladsye wat gevul moet word met ongelooflike stories, ervarings, spesiale tye, goeie vriende en alle uitdagings wat aangevat en oorkom sal word…  Miskien was 2012 nie wat jy gehoop het dit sou wees nie…  of miskien was dit die beste jaar waarvoor jy ooit kon hoop!  Maak nie saak nie – dit is verby, en ons moet nou fokus op dit wat voor ons lê…  Hierdie onderstaande storie was vir my ‘n absolute inspirasie!   Jesus weet wat Hy vir jou beplan aan die begin van hierdie nuwe jaar, en met alles in my WEET ek – vir jou en vir my – THE BEST IS YET TO COME…  Wanneer jy Hom eerste stel in jou lewe, sal Hy al die ander dinge wat dalk nog nie sin maak nie, of nog onseker is of deurmekaar is in plek laat val…  Wanneer ons Hom die regmatige plek in ons lewe gee, gee Hy aan ons die seën en oorwinning waarna ons soek…  Kom ons maak dit een van ons Nuwe Jaar Resolusies om vir God in hierdie jaar Nommer 1 in ons lewens te maak en daar te hou…  Deur ons stiltetyd en Kerk toe gaan ‘n prioriteit te maak!  Deur lief te wees vir die mense rondom ons, en elke dag met ‘n POSITIEWE gemoed in te gaan…  Dinge val net makliker in plek wanneer ons dit positief benader!  Mag hierdie storie hieronder jou bless en jou inspireer vir GROOT dinge wat gaan kom in 2013 in jou lewe!!  Wees reg vir nuwe uitdagings, God is met jou en sal aan jou die krag voorsien om ENIGE iets in hierdie nuwe jaar te vermag!  DROOM GROOT!

Woman and a Fork

There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things in order, she contacted her Pastor and had him

come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes.  She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted

to be buried in.   Everything was in order and the Pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her.  There's one more thing, she said excitedly..  What's that? Came the Pastor's reply.  This is very important, the young woman

continued. I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand.  The Pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing quite what to say.  That surprises you, doesn't it? The young woman asked.

Well, to be honest, I'm puzzled by the request, said the Pastor.  The young woman explained. My Grandmother once told me this story, and from that time on I have always tried to pass along its message to those I love and those who are in need of encouragement. In all my years of attending socials and dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, 'Keep your fork.' It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming...like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie.

Something wonderful, and with substance!  So, I just want people to see me there in that

casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder 'What's with the fork?' Then I want you to tell them: 'Keep your fork ...The best is yet to come.'   The Pastor's eyes welled up with tears of joy as

he hugged the young woman good-bye. He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the young woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did. She had a better grasp of what heaven would be like than many people twice her age, with twice as much experience and knowledge. She KNEW that something better was coming.

At the funeral people were walking by the young woman's casket and they saw the cloak she was wearing and the fork placed in her right hand. Over and over, the Pastor heard the question, 'What's with the fork?' And over and over he smiled.   During his message, the Pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the young woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her. He told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either.   He was right. So the next time you reach down for your fork let it remind you, ever so gently, that the best is yet to come. Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you

to succeed. Cherish the time you have, and the memories you share. Being friends with someone is not an opportunity, but a sweet responsibility.  And just remember... keep your fork!  The BEST is yet to come!
